When shelves and windowsills fill up, look up. A rattan hanging planter turns empty air into a garden, letting pothos, string of pearls and spider plants spill down in soft green curtains. Our hand-woven designs bring that look indoors with natural texture from every angle.
Every piece is woven by hand from rattan, cane and bamboo, so each hanging bamboo planter has its own character.
Single Pots and Sets
Single Planters
Larkston is a single woven rattan hanging pot with panel detailing and built-in drainage, ideal for one statement trailing plant in a window corner.
Sets of Two
Eamonn pairs two rattan hanging planters so you can hang them at different heights for a layered display above a bench, desk or bathtub.
Best Plants for Hanging
| Plant | Light | Why It Works |
|---|---|---|
| Pothos | Low to bright indirect | Fast trailing vines, very forgiving |
| String of pearls | Bright indirect | Bead-like strands drape beautifully |
| Spider plant | Medium indirect | Arching leaves and baby plantlets |
| Boston fern | Bright indirect, humid | Full, feathery shape for bathrooms |
How to Hang Safely
A watered plant can be heavier than it looks. Use a ceiling hook rated for the load and screw it into a joist, not plain drywall. Hang the base of the pot at least a foot from the ceiling for airflow and a few feet from walkways so no one bumps their head. A swivel hook makes it easy to turn the plant toward the light.
A rattan plant hanger also works from a curtain rod, wall bracket or sturdy shelf edge if drilling into the ceiling is not an option.
Watering Without Drips
Keep the plant in a lightweight plastic nursery pot inside the woven shell. Take it down to water at the sink, let it drain fully, then rehang. This protects both the weave and the floor beneath. A bamboo hanging planter stays looking fresh longest when it is never left sitting in water.
Styling Ideas
Cluster two or three planters at staggered heights in a sunny corner. Hang one above a kitchen sink for herbs, or pair a hanging plant pot rattan design with woven pendant lights for a cohesive, natural ceiling.
Care
Dust the weave with a soft brush, check hooks and ropes every few months, and rotate the plant regularly so it grows evenly on all sides.
Hanging Planter FAQs
Do hanging planters come with ropes or hooks?
Check the listing for the hanging hardware supplied. Pick a ceiling hook rated for your ceiling type and the watered weight.
Can I water the plant while it hangs?
It is best to take it down and water at the sink. That avoids drips and keeps the woven shell dry.
Will a hanging planter work in a bathroom?
Yes, if the room is well ventilated. Ferns and pothos enjoy the extra humidity.
How heavy can the plant be?
Choose small to medium trailing plants in lightweight nursery pots. Check the hook and ceiling fixing can carry the watered weight.
Can I use one outdoors?
Under a covered porch, yes. Bring it inside during rain or long humid spells to protect the fibers.
What height looks best for a hanging pot?
Keep the pot base at eye level or slightly above in seating areas, and clear of walkways where people pass.
